RE: Trying to time a VW bus motor
If you have the John Muir book called "How To Keep Your Volkswagen Alive (A manuel of procedures for the complete idiot),it has the exact procedure on page 294,along with pictures. This is one of the best VW manuals out.Anyone that ownes a VW should have this book.It is like a VW Bible.

RE: Trying to time a VW bus motor
I agree, that is a killer book and a must have for anyone who owns an air cooled vw. I use to have a copy but gave it away to someone who owned a bug (at the time I didnt have one myself).
