I sure miss my Type III

Hello all. Great to see a forum on VWs, especially 1600 'pancakes', fuel injected. I sold my Fastback in ~1989 for $200. It was starting to fall apart from extreme use. Gawd, I loved that car. In later years I learned of the Notchback, which now replaces my ultimate dream car (was: 1957-58 two-tone Belair).

Interesting story: About 3 years ago, I found a 66 NB in Lima, Peru and a guy who was quite fluent in English (my Spanglish is pitiful), and seriously considered driving it back or at least paying for ocean freight to LA. I missed the window, but this was a classic "bought for Grandma, kept in a garage", with 60 or 70k miles. Everything original.

Anyhoo, just though I introduce myself. I hope to find a NB or SB someday for restoring. I do know of a FB automatic in southern Wyoming in some guy's back yard. Its been sitting in the elements for years, but looks structurally sound. Let me know if I should pursue this or if someone here wants me to.
